Despite a dominant performance with the bat from Shikhar Dhawan and Yusuf Pathan, India couldn’t defend the total as Callum Ferguson and Daniel Christian led the Aussies to a stunning last-over victory.
After losing the toss, India Champions were asked to bat first—and they didn’t disappoint. Opening the innings, Shikhar Dhawan delivered a classy unbeaten 91 off 60 balls (12 fours, 2 sixes), anchoring the innings from start to finish. He was well-supported by Robin Uthappa, who smashed 37 off just 21 balls at a strike rate of 176.19.
The fireworks came at the end, though, with Yusuf Pathan blasting 52 off 23 balls, including 5 sixes, at an incredible strike rate of 226.09. His late assault pushed India’s total to a strong 203/4 in 20 overs.
Chasing 204, Australia lost early wickets as Harbhajan Singh and Piyush Chawla spun a web around the top order, reducing them to 65/4. But Daniel Christian steadied the innings with a composed 39 off 28 balls before Callum Ferguson took over the chase with an aggressive unbeaten 70 off 38 balls, including 4 sixes and 8 fours.
Needing 10 runs off the final over, Ferguson kept his calm, guiding Australia to 207/6 in 19.5 overs, securing a four-wicket win in one of the most thrilling games of the tournament so far.
